Goji Berry Wolfberry
Botanical Name: Lycium barbarum
Hailed as one of Natures Superfoods this perennial shrub native to China produces an abundance of little nutritional powerhouse berries. The shrub can get to 2.5m high and across over time. It thrives in any sunny position and likes to be trimmed back every Winter.
How To Grow | Sow seeds 5mm (1/4in) deep. Cover lightly with fine soil, firm gently and keep moist. Seedlings appear in 14-28 days. Thin as necessary and plant out when large enough to handle. Goji berries require hot weather to germinate so in temperate climates, December is the earliest to start sowing the seeds. Alternatively, you can use a HeatPad to better control the temperature. Recipe
Cranberry & Goji Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 cup cranberries
- 1/2 cup dried or 1 cup fresh goji berries
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsps sugar
- 1 tsp orange zest
Instructions
- Combine the cranberries, goji berries, sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to boil. Reduce the heat and leave to simmer for ten minutes
- Stir in the orange zest then pour the mix into a container and once cooled off, place in the fridge. The sauce will set as it cools further.
